Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas | February 7, 2023 | Press Release from AlēvCare® Hospice:
AlēvCare Hospice has partnered with Tarleton State University to provide educational opportunities for nursing students in the areas of hospice and end-of-life care, helping develop future nurses who are equipped to care for patients with dignity, compassion, and clinical excellence, especially within the communities they call home.
As part of AlēvCare’s ongoing mission to strengthen hospice awareness and invest in the future of healthcare, AlēvCare Hospice will provide Tarleton State nursing students with didactic education on hospice philosophy and comfort-focused care, along with opportunities for students to participate in observational visits alongside AlēvCare Hospice nurses during patient visits throughout the local community, including patients in smaller towns and rural communities across North Texas.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving end-of-life care knowledge among the next generation of community-serving nurses.
“We believe great nursing is rooted in both knowledge and heart,” said David Dowd, Founder and CEO of AlēvCare Hospice. “Hospice care teaches nurses how to support the whole person, not just clinically, but emotionally and relationally. We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with Tarleton State University and help prepare nurses who will serve families with compassion, steadiness, and an authentic commitment to their neighbors.”
Through this partnership, students will gain deeper exposure to hospice and end-of-life care, including communication skills, symptom management, caregiver support, and the interdisciplinary nature of caring for patients with serious illness in the home setting.
