Grief support, community gatherings, and trusted resources for families across North Texas
Grief does not follow a schedule, and it rarely looks the same from one person to the next. Whether you are in the earliest days of loss or months into a journey that still feels heavy, you deserve support that meets you where you are.
This page is here to help you understand what grief support looks like, what it can offer, and how to find the right kind of help for yourself or someone you love.
What Is Grief Support?
Grief support refers to the range of services, programs, and resources designed to help individuals cope with the emotional, physical, and spiritual effects of loss. It is not therapy in the clinical sense, though professional counseling is one form it can take. Grief support can look like a small group gathering, a one-on-one conversation with a trained counselor, a newsletter that arrives when you need it most, or simply a community of people who understand what you are going through.
Loss affects everyone differently. Some people grieve quietly and privately. Others need space to talk, to ask questions, or to sit with someone who will listen without trying to fix anything. Grief support honors all of those needs without judgment.
At AlēvCare, bereavement support is a core part of the care we provide. It begins before a loss and continues long after, because grief does not end when hospice care does.
Who Is Grief Support For?
Grief support is for anyone who has experienced a significant loss. You do not need to be a hospice family to benefit, and you do not need to be in crisis to reach out. Grief support is for:
- Family members and caregivers who have lost a loved one
- Children and teenagers navigating loss for the first time
- Spouses and partners adjusting to life after losing their person
- Parents grieving the loss of a child at any age
- Friends and community members who feel overlooked in their grief
- Anyone who is struggling and looking for a place to begin
If you are unsure whether grief support is right for you, that uncertainty is reason enough to explore it.
The Benefits of Grief Support
Grief can affect your sleep, your appetite, your concentration, and your sense of identity. Left without support, those effects can deepen over time. Connecting with grief support, in whatever form feels right, can help you:
- Feel less isolated in what you are experiencing
- Understand that your grief is normal, even when it feels overwhelming
- Develop healthy ways to process loss at your own pace
- Find community with others who have walked a similar path
- Navigate difficult seasons like holidays, anniversaries, and milestones
- Support children and teens in your family who are also grieving
- Move forward without feeling like you are leaving your loved one behind
Grief support does not rush healing. It walks alongside it.
How Grief Support Works
There is no single right way to grieve, and there is no single right way to receive support. At AlēvCare, grief support is offered through a combination of community programs, educational resources, and connections to trusted organizations throughout North Texas.
