Serving Lake and Rural Communities

Life in Hood County often means longer drives, more space between neighbors, and homes tucked along the lake or down country roads. When health declines, those realities matter.

Our team understands:

  • The practical challenges of caring for someone in a rural or lake-area home
  • How weather, distance, and terrain can affect visits and planning
  • The importance of clear communication so families can plan their days
  • The need to respect privacy and property while remaining present and reliable

We plan our routes and communication with these realities in mind, so hospice care remains dependable even when you live “a little out of the way.”

Common Questions Families in Hood County Ask

  • How do we know if we’re getting close to needing hospice care?
Families often notice increasing fatigue, weight loss, breathing changes, or more difficult days overall. Hospice can help when a serious illness is progressing and comfort has become the priority.
  • Do we have to wait until the very end?
No. Hospice is appropriate when a physician believes someone may have about six months of life if the illness follows its usual course.
  • What if this is just a difficult week?
It might be. Hospice can help clarify whether changes are temporary or part of a larger decline.
  • Can we still go to the hospital if we choose hospice?
Yes. Hospice focuses on comfort at home, but families still have choices.
  • What would hospice look like in our Hood County home or facility?
Every situation is a little different. We talk through your routines, concerns, and living environment to build a care plan that feels personal, predictable, and deeply supportive.

There is no obligation, just honest, straightforward guidance.

My mother was cared for by AlevCare during the last few months of her life. From the administration, volunteers, chaplains, aids and especially the nurses the care she received was top notch. My sister and I feel that their compassionate and thoughtful care greatly improved the quality of her life. Additionally, they communicated with us frequently and we knew what to expect. Since Mom passed (gently and painlessly)they have been very supportive for our family.

I highly recommend AlevCare.

Miss Becky came into my life from a referral. What an absolute Godsend she is! Her crew were quick to get a hospital bed and supplies to my house and all of the people she sent were the very best at what they do. First it was a company called Horizon that came and set up the bed, oxygen and supplies. Mark at Horizon was professional and fast at delivery and pick up. They also had medications delivered to my door! Then it was the Case Worker, Tonya, and the RN Carlie that made decisions that were best for our situation. Two nurse angels from Mercy named Carol and Kristin took shifts to keep my darling husband comfortable while I grieved. There was also Nurse Celia who was so compassionate and patient with my confused husband!! Miss Becky had everything under control during a heartbreaking time for me and from start to finish the whole team was compassionate, professional and extremely competent. I recommend AlevCare Hospice very highly should your family be in the heartbreaking situation we were in. I call them the parade of angels that show up and manage the entire process for you. Thank you to this lovely team of sweet professionals! I will be grateful to each one of you for the rest of my life!
